Emerging from a snowy desert like a lighthouse, the building designed by B E A R T H & D E P L A Z E S is reminiscent of a lunar satellite.
These images are the visual search for a space of dialogue and tension between rational and organic elements; between architecture and the surrounding landscape. Architecture intrinsically carries the idea of transformation and moves a place from a state of nature to a state of culture.
The reflection, a literal and metaphorical opening, defines the gaze, frames the landscape. The concave structure of the glass, its transparency and its reflection create an effect of superimposition, like a freeze frame in a film. The depth of field subtly causes the reflection of the landscape to tip into the building, which itself becomes the surrounding mountain. Paradoxically but intrinsically, nature then becomes part of the architectural project.
